This interactive installation, comprised more than 100 ceramic pieces combined by photo projection and narration, speaks about the “pull” and “push” factors that made the artist immigrating from the place that she lived for 35 years. Statistics show the number of desperate people fled from eastern countries to westerns, but rarely talk about why they start this journey. (Im)possibilities reveals those stories in the artists’ personal life and raise the question that why people choose immigration.
After visiting the work, audiences will be encouraged to deconstruct and re-install their own stories with some of the ceramic pieces. They will be able to make their own stories of life. The goal is people recall this experience when hearing news about immigration, and react accordingly. Even if they are not immigrants they will find similarities between the stories in human lives.
